Sherwood ELT Webtalks Conference пройдёт в три дня, 3-4-5 ноября. Участие в Sherwood Webtalks 2020 бесплатное. Регистрация обязательна для подключения к конференции и получения электронного сертификата участника
Формат предполагает выступление гостей (на русском или английском языке, по их выбору) и ответы на вопросы участников конференции по окончании доклада. Между докладами предусмотрено время для онлайн общения участников.
Каждый день с нами будет партнёр - модератор, который поможет нам сделать этот день ещё более ярким и полезным. Участники смогут выиграть предоставленные модераторами призы по ходу общения и на лотерее в Instagram.

We are going to explore Synthetic Phonics approach to teaching literacy in pre-primary school: the key principles, the way it is implemented in class, the assessment and the outcomes. - 12.00 – 13.00 Speaker: Marina Morozova-Yesipenko (MA in Applied Linguistics, DELTA, IHCYLT, CELTA) is a practicing teacher, teacher trainer, international conference speaker, and researcher, currently doing a PhD course in Semiotics, Communications and Multimodality at Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic. She is keen on language learning social linguistics and semiotics as well as cognitive science and principles of Embodied Learning.
Talk: Key stages of teaching academic writing
Did you know that English is a writer-responsible language? This implies that your essay should be well-written, consistent and coherent. This workshop aims to structure the writing process and suggest possible solution to the problems attached to writing for Academia, as well as writing in general, in particular, the notorious "lack of ideas", or, on the other hand, excessive wordiness. Among others, it focuses on the commonly neglected spheres of academic writing, namely, argumentation and cohesion.

Talk: Teaching advanced vocabulary effectively
It’s hard to underestimate the importance of teaching vocabulary; thousands of teachers are seeking ways to do it in the most effective way imaginable. Numerous books on methodology have been published, and copious online resources have been published to meet the demand. Very few of them, however, give practical guidance for teachers who work with higher levels, such as Advanced and Proficiency, rather concentrating on beginners. In this talk, we will be discussing recent developments in this complex area, elaborating on some of the most fruitful sources of lexis for the classroom, including books, dictionaries, and linguistic corpora.

Tom Wiseman is the co-founder and Director of Studies at English Connection Language Center in Saint-Petersburg. In addition to his work in the classroom, Tom works with teachers to develop and experiment with innovative methods to efficiently automate spoken and written English. He is also a regular speaker at international and local ELT events.
